📰 News we're reading

• Midgrade gas at $4.34 per gallon in Kendall County in week ending Sept. 19 (kendallcountytimes.com) — Midgrade gas in Kendall County recently dropped as low as $4.34 per gallon, with Plano drivers seeing listed prices around that level alongside neighboring towns like Yorkville and Oswego. For Plano residents watching their budgets, the report breaks down where local prices stand compared with the Illinois average and explains why Midwest fuel costs have climbed this year.

• Shafer Jr. Wins 65th Bettenhausen Memorial (speedsport.com) — Grundy County Speedway's big Bettenhausen Memorial race ended with veteran Paul Shafer Jr. in victory lane, but a standout moment for locals came when 14-year-old Easton Grommes of Plano won the 15-lap Super Cup feature in his first-ever race. His debut victory puts a young Plano driver on the regional racing radar.
