Summer is here, and the Rockford area is packed with ways to enjoy the season. From outdoor gatherings and local markets to community festivals and family-friendly events, there's plenty happening close to home. Below are some events and activities to add to your calendar. Before you head out, it's always a good idea to confirm hours, weather plans and ticket details with event organizers.


1. Festa Italiana

When: Friday, July 31, 2026: 5 p.m.– 11 p.m.; Saturday, August 1, 2026: 12 p.m.– 11 p.m.; Sunday, August 2, 2026: Mass at 10 a.m., festival 12 p.m.– 8 p.m.

Where: 4000 St. Francis Dr, Rockford

The Greater Rockford Italian American Association will be hosting its 47th annual Festa Italiana fundraiser, one of the largest of its kind in the Rockford area. Guests of all backgrounds are welcome to enjoy food and drink, live performances, carnival rides and kids’ activities. Admission is $8; active duty military/veterans and kids age 7 and under attend free.

2. Poochella 2026

When: Saturday, August 1, 2026: 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sunday, August 2, 2026: 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

Where: 5129 Forest Hills Ct, Loves Park

Down the road in Loves Park, DOGGO Sit Stay Play will host Poochella, a dog-friendly outdoor festival for pups and their people. There will be a vendor market featuring local makers and unique pet products, along with live acoustic music from talented area musicians throughout the day.

3. RockYard Music Fest

When: Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, 2026; see website for events schedule

Where: Davis Park | 320 S Wyman St, Rockford

RockYard Music Fest is the city’s newest summer tradition, bringing people of all ages together through live music, local art, food and drinks, games and unforgettable experiences. This free event will have family-friendly activities and high-energy entertainment all day, culminating in a fireworks display over the river on Friday night and a drone show on Saturday night.

4. Rockford City Market

When: Fridays through August 28, 2026, 4–8:30 p.m.

Where: City Market Pavilion | Water Street at East State Street, Rockford

A longtime summer tradition in downtown Rockford, City Market brings together more than 40 local vendors selling fresh food, handmade goods, flowers and artisan products. Visitors can also enjoy food trucks, local breweries, live music and free weekly kids' activities, with a different theme each Friday.

5. Rockford Jams

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays through July 30, 2026, 7 p.m.

Where: Sinnissippi Park Music Shell | 2010 Arlington Ave, Rockford

Rockford Jams is the Park District's outdoor concert series, featuring local and regional performers in the scenic Sinnissippi Park Music Shell. Most performances are free, with select ticketed shows throughout the season; guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

6. Food Truck Tuesdays

When: Tuesdays through September 29, 2026, 4 p.m.

Where: Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens | 1354 N. 2nd St, Rockford

Spend a summer evening sampling dishes from local food trucks while enjoying the scenic gardens and riverfront at Nicholas Conservatory. Note: Weekly events are weather-permitting; keep an eye on the Nicholas Conservatory website and/or Facebook page, as well as the Rockford Park District website and/or mobile app, for updates.
