More than 250 Rockford-area residents gathered last week for the Rockford Community Connection Resource Fair, hosted by Nicor Gas in collaboration with local elected officials and community organizations. The event connected households with essential services, including energy efficiency programs, bill payment assistance, career resources and natural gas safety education.

Nicor Gas worked with Illinois State Representative Maurice West, Illinois State Senator Steve Stadelman, Illinois State Representative Dave Vella, Mayor Janessa Neal and the City of Rockford Government to bring the event to the community. Partner organizations included Hope Fair Housing Center, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Rockford Human Services, The Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and the Illinois Tollway I-PASS Assist program.

Attendees received a week's worth of free groceries, energy-saving kits and information about programs designed to support families and strengthen the community. Organizers credited the success of the event to the support of community partners, volunteers and local leaders working together to provide meaningful resources for Rockford residents.
