Armed Man Charged With Assault, Disorderly Conduct: Rockford PD
Juckapun Wannaveg, 56, of Rockford, was arrested and charged Wednesday following domestic violence incident.

ROCKFORD, IL — Rockford Police Department officials said a 56-year-old Rockford man has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct in a domestic violence incident Wednesday. Police said just before 2 p.m., they were called to a residence in the 3600 block of Palmetto Road on a report of domestic violence involving a person with a gun, as the caller claimed they heard several gunshots fired inside the home.
The caller told the 911 operator they and another victim had barricaded themselves in a room and could see officers through a window. Police said a perimeter was established outside once officers arrived.
According to police, the caller also said they didn't know where the armed person, identified as Juckapun Wannaveg, was located in the house. However, police said officers were able to help both victims through the window and away to safety.

Shortly after, Wannaveg came outside unarmed and was arrested around 2:30 p.m., police said in a report,

Officers searched the residence and confirmed there were no other people inside, and said the gun identified as the one used in the incident was recovered.
Wannaveg was charged with several counts of disorderly conduct, in addition to aggravated assault with a firearm, police reported.
