Chemical fire explosion reported to have started at Allied Locke Industries Inc. Friday morning.

AMBOY, IL — Amboy residents were woken early Friday morning by the sounds of an explosion that Amboy Fire Department said was from a chemical fire that started at Allied Locke Industries Inc., according to WQAD. According to the news report, a resident said he heard the explosion around 3 a.m., adding that police went door to door in his neighborhood and made everyone evacuate the area. WQAD said the corner of US 39 and 40 through US 30 is blocked off surrounding Allied Locke Industries Inc., as police weren't letting anyone within a two-mile radius of the fire.

While there was still smoke in the air as of 8:45 a.m. Friday morning, WQAD said officials near US 39 and US 40 were letting cars pass.
