Rockford Police Holding Benefit To Purchase New K9

Details on Rockford Police Department's 'In Dogs We Trust' benefit.

ROCKFORD, IL — The Rockford Police Department invites all members of the public to join them and Friends of Rockford Police K-9 for a night of fun, food and fundraising on Thursday, Sept. 13 to help them purchase another police K9. From 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the In Dogs We Trust benefit will be hosted by Josef Barbados, located at 6860 Spring Creek Road, to help RPD's purchase of another K9, vehicle, vests and training that are necessary to keep the community safe.

According to the department's Facebook page, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara will be the celebrity host for the event, and RPD Chief Dan O’Shea and State Representative John Cabello will be the celebrity bartenders.

During the benefit, officers will hold a K9 demonstration and answer any questions about the dogs and their jobs in Josef's parking lot. Attendees will also be able to snap a picture with the K9s.
