1 Dead in Romeoville Submerged Car

A Bolingbrook woman is dead after a car was found in retention pond near Lakeview Drive and Remington Blvd.

One person is dead after a car went into a pond at Lakeview Drive and Remington Blvd. in Romeoville, according to a release from the Romeoville Police Department.

At around 11:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, the Romeoville Fire Department responded to a call of a vehicle in a retention pond. According to the release, the investigation showed a gold 2002 Honda was traveling north on Lakeview Drive. The vehicle went through the stop sign at Remington, continuing through a grassy parkway then into a retention pond. Fire Department divers checked the submerged vehicle and found the deceased driver. The vehicle and driver have been removed from the pond.

The driver has been identified as 33-year-old Cynthia Breig of Bolingbrook.

The accident is still under investigation.
