2026-27 School Year Calendar Discussed By VVSD Board

ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its Monday board meeting, the Valley View School District heard an information report for the draft of the 2026-27 school year calendar.

The VVSD Calendar Committee consists of certified and classified staff members, and parent/guardian representation, according to Board documents.

The draft calendar includes designated full day school improvement days, as well as required legal holidays and election days.

"The use of school improvement days is also in alignment with the provisions outlined in the collective bargaining agreement," board documents state.

Residents can comment on the district calendar on the school website. The Board will also hold a public hearing on Jan. 26 for the required waiver to use School Improvement Days in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education waiver requirements. The waiver would allow the District to hold five full-day school improvement days, rather than two early release days per month.

Any necessary modifications will be made before the final approval of the calendar at a later board meeting.
