Decked out in a theme to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66, the 2026 State of the Village highlighted another year of strong growth, community engagement, and continued investment in infrastructure, public safety, and economic development. Nearly 400 guests were on hand to hear the annual address at the Romeoville Athletic & Event Center.

Mayor Noak announced two big companies who have recently opened in Romeoville. The first announcement was Ro, or Roman Health Ventures Inc., a direct-to-consumer telehealth company. Ro now occupies a 270,000 square foot research and development facility that serves as the heart of their pharmacy network. The state-of-the-art facility was designed to support innovation and scale for the telehealth company as it advances automation, research and development, and production capabilities. It is believed to be the largest Pharma related investment in the county’s history. The second announcement was that G&W Electric has expanded into Romeoville and is now set up in a 291,000 square foot space with 200 employees. They create electrical equipment and specialize in power grid solutions and electrical solutions for the utility industry and commercial customers. Combined, the two companies will add hundreds of high caliber careers to the community.

In addition to these new employers, Marriott TownePlace Suites, Vasa Fitness, Hibbett, and Rack Room Shoes opened their doors along with a host of restaurants including Wing Snob, Scooter’s Coffee, Taco Loco Bar & Grill, Hatch Chicken, and La Colonia. Even with these new openings, there are more exciting things still on the way. Three new shopping centers are planned for construction along Weber Road, including one that will be anchored by La Hacienda grocery store and a speak easy. 7 Brew Coffee will be serving up drinks by this fall and a new 55+ senior community is being planned for the area next to Scene75. Madurai Kitchen will be serving up exciting dishes at their new location next to Vasa Fitness in the coming weeks. This is in addition to the previous announcement of Hawaiian Brothers and Crisp & Green, which are soon to be under construction. The Village anticipates additional retail and restaurant announcements over the coming months.

Romeoville is financially strong and growing, allowing the Village to be able to reduce their portion of the property tax rate for the 11th year in a row and offer an increased homeowner property tax rebate this year. Retail sales are rising along with value of properties, making for a strong economic outlook for the community.

As Romeoville continues to grow, the Village staff is called on to keep up with that growth and continues to excel in doing so. A variety of awards were bestowed on the various departments, including some recognitions that have been running for over a decade. The Police Department continues to lead in the use of technology to aid their work while the Fire Department purchased two new vehicles and the Fire Academy expanded their offerings to train firefighters. The Park and Recreation Department celebrated 60 years of fun in 2025, built an ADA field at Romeo Crossing Park, hosted more than 40 community events, and refurbished the skate park. Look for a new park along Weber Road in the years ahead and some great music in 2026, as Everclear and Jefferson Starship will be performing at RomeoFest. Public Works continues to modernize water main infrastructure as the date for Lake Michigan water draws near its targeted completion in 2030.

On the environment front, the Village is embarking on a new tree replacement program that will see them plant 433 native trees this year and 2,500 over the next six years. It was another strong year for environmental causes. There are now officially more than 75 monarch waystations, giving the state butterfly a habitat to thrive in. Romeoville named the Virginia Bluebell as their official flower and will hold an event celebrating it on May 2.

On the transportation front, residents can expect to see the final section of Pinnacle Drive open soon, which will connect Renwick to Taylor. Beautification and pedestrian paths are coming to the stretch of Route 53 in front of Lewis University, and the community continues to work with IDOT for additional enhancements along the north section of the route.

“Our team continues to innovate and attract new businesses, making Romeoville stronger every year,” said Mayor Noak. “I am tremendously honored and proud to be the Mayor of Romeoville and look forward to many more exciting announcements as the year continues.”
