Romeoville Appoints Members to New Senior Advisory Council

The Village Board appointed eight seniors to its newly created Senior Advisory Council at the most recent meeting. Trustee Ken Griffin will serve as the Board Liaison. The initial members are:


The Senior Advisory Council was created to recognize the contributions, needs, and perspectives of residents aged 62 and older and to further the health, safety, welfare, and quality of life of senior residents. They will review and make recommendations to the Village Board on a variety of matters of concern to seniors like transportation/mobility, housing and aging in place, health, recreation, social inclusion, public safety, access to information, and digital inclusion. They will also identify needed areas of services for seniors and outreach to underserved senior communities, such as the disabled, veterans, and those who speak/read limited English.

"We look forward to hearing the recommendations of this council and ensuring Romeoville is doing all it can to keep our senior community engaged," said Mayor Noak.

The Village of Romeoville already provides numerous activities and programs for seniors. A complete list can be found on romeoville.org. In addition, senior programs are provided through Lockport Township Park District and the Plainfield Park District for those within their boundaries. Finally, senior services and activities can be found through the townships of Lockport, DuPage, and Plainfield.
