Ninth Annual Romeoville High School Spartan Classic Features 17 Bands

Proceeds from the Oct. 3 Classic support the RHS Marching Band program.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville High School Marching Spartans invite the community for an afternoon of music, marching and competition at the 9th annual Spartan Classic, set for Oct. 3.

The Classic will be held at Spartan Stadium, 100 N. Independence Blvd. The stadium will open at noon, with the first band scheduled to perform at 12:45 p.m.

According to a news release, 17 bands from across the state will compete in three classes, based on band size. Participating bands include: Roundlake, Providence Catholic, Marengo, Bloom Township, Morris Community, Glenbrook South, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Harold Richards, Buffalo Grove, Plainfield South, Joliet West, Grayslake Central, Rolling Meadows, Warren Township, Oswego, John Hersey and A.A.Stagg.

In addition to the competing bands, Cornerstone Drumline of Joliet, will showcase their 2026 production, the Band Boosters shared.

Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each class, along with caption awards recognizing outstanding percussion, color guard, visual effects, drum major and music. A Grand Champion will be presented to the band with the highest overall score, regardless of class size.

Entrance to the Spartan Classic is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $40 for a family package covering two adults and two students or seniors. Children 5 and younger are admitted for free.

Proceeds from the Spartan Classic support the Romeoville High School Marching Band program.

Romeoville High School's 135-piece Marching Spartans will perform their 2026 production, "The Amazon," at 6:45 p.m., according to a news release.

The Marching Spartans are led by Dr. DaJuan Brooks along with Adam Hill as percussion director.

Last year, the band earned first-place finishes at the Stagg Marching Jamboree in Palos Hills, the Red and Black Fall Classic in DeKalb and Illinois State Marching Band Championships in Class 4A, where they finished 8th in finals, the Band Boosters said. The band also earned Best Percussion at the Victor J. Andrew Marching Invitational in Tinley Park.
