The Village Board has approved two new projects that will bring additional shopping to Romeoville, including a new dedicated grocery store.
The first project is for the southwest corner of Weber Road and Creekside Drive and will include a new 12,000 square foot grocery store with an attached 2,500 square foot restaurant. The grocery store, called La Hacienda, will be full-service, open daily from 8 am – 9 pm, and feature an in-house, cut to order butcher program. La Hacienda has five other Chicagoland locations. The restaurant will include a drive-thru component and will bring something new to Romeoville with a speakeasy concept. While the restaurant is anticipated to be open every day from 8 am – 10 pm, the speakeasy will operate Thursday – Sunday from 5 pm – 11 pm. Both businesses are part of a larger ground-up development that will include two additional retail spaces for future tenants.
The second project is a new 7,200 square foot, four-tenant retail center to be constructed just north of the current center where Aldi is located. It will have two quick-serve restaurants with one having a drive-thru window. Robust landscaping is proposed and includes a total of 17 trees.
"Our team has been reviewing these plans since February and we are very excited to give them their final approval," said Mayor Noak. "We look forward to welcoming more businesses to the community and especially the addition of another grocery store."
Other businesses that are under construction in Romeoville right now include Earth Mover Credit Union on the southwest corner of Weber Road and Airport Road, a seven tenant retail building at the northwest corner of Weber and Renwick, a 7 Brew Coffee at 440 S. Weber Road (near Walmart), Madurai Kitchen, an Indian restaurant in Romeo Towne Center (northeast corner of Weber & 135th), and a three tenant building that will include Hawaiian Bros Island Grill and CRISP & GREEN at the southeast corner of Weber and Normantown. The Village anticipates announcing additional new developments and updates soon.
