ROMEOVILLE, IL — At its Oct. 7 meeting, the Romeoville Village Board heard a concept plan for the redevelopment of property at 717 Parkwood.
The concept plan is for the redevelopment of 18.7 acres in the M-2 zoning district, Director of Community Development Josh Potter.
"Property includes the former Northfield Block property, several lots along Forestwood Drive on the east end of the site, property on Parkwood that was recently acquired, and part of the Enbridge Pipeline property on Parkwood that is currently being negotiated, and a parcel to the south that includes an existing stormwater management facility," Potter said.
Potter said the Northfield Block building burned down several years ago, and there are several redevelopment issues at this site.
Applicant Paul Lombardo of Boyer Rosene Moving and Storage has worked for several years on permits for the site to be redeveloped.
"The plan proposes constructing three new buildings over four phases, which would consist of a total of 126,000 square feet of new building area," Potter said.
Mayor John Noak called the property a "legacy site," that had been developed in many different phases many years ago.
"This is a major investment by their company to modernize and improve this site," Noak said.
"It's a perfect use for this area," Trustee Dave Richards said. "There's already facilities like this down there. It will finally clean up what's been a hodge-podge of properties down there."
Boyer Rosene is a professional moving company servicing the Chicago area.
