The Village of Romeoville has received a Federal Surface Transportation Program grant (STP) for a bridge repair project in the amount of $3.9 million. The project includes the concrete patching and overlay of all the 135th Street bridge decks, along with replacement of expansion joints and bearings and other items. The grant covers 80% of the projected total cost.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to utilize grant funds to improve our infrastructure," said Mayor Noak.
This project will ensure the 135th Street bridge remains in peak condition and continues to provide a vital crossing of the river and canal. Design work will be underway with construction anticipated to begin in 2031 and will last a few months.
