National Board Certified Teachers Honored by VVSD Board

The Valley View Community Unit School District 365U school board honored 18 teachers and administrators for achieving the National Board Certification for Professional Teachering Standards' National Board.

National Board Certification is an advanced teaching credential.

According to VVSD officials: Honored at the meeting (in order in photo attached starting with bottom row): Margaret Jenkins, 1st grade teacher Independence; Baochau Thomas, math teacher at Humphrey; Jessica Spalo, ESL language arts teacher at Brooks; Michelle Yesufu, supported ed/resource teacher at Oak View; David Burke, physical education teacher at Brooks; Stephanie Mastrogiovanni, supported ed/resource teacher at McGee; Susan Severson, supported ed/resource teacher at Ward; Sandra Fiorini, 2nd grade teacher at Hill; Melissa Hansbrough, 3rd grade teacher at Skoff; Shirley Soll, reading teacher at Hill; Barbara Swaim, language arts/social studies teacher at Brooks; Catherine Hess, 4th grade teacher at McGee; Rachael Jones, science teacher at Brooks; Katherine Thomas, library media specialist at Ward; Christy Vehe, Director of Middle and High School; Kristi Korb, math teacher at Bolingbrook High School; and Melissa Kozerski, 3rd grade teacher at McGee.
