
The Will County Emergency Management Agency was will purchase a new emergency mobile command vehicle.
The Will County Board approved the purchase at its Aug. 18 meeting. The $725,000 vehilce will be funded by a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The custom-built mobile unit will be used by Will County and local emergency commanders at the scene of major emergencies, disaster sites and major public events.

The Will County Emergency Telephone System will buy equopment for the unit to allow it to serve as an emergency back-up dispatch center, in the event of an outage affecting any of the county's 911 centers.
The unit should be delivered by March 2012.
