Back To School: Valley View CUSD 365U 2021-22 School Calendar

Parents in Romeoville can mark the first day of school coming later this summer.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Romeoville, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Valley View CUSD 365U.

The first day of school for most students in Romeoville is August 19.

The district is planning a full return to the classroom for five days a week after last year, when the ongoing coronavirus pandemic had an effect on how classes were run in the district. The Valley View district will only allow remote learning to students with significant health issues and students who needed to quarantine because they were exposed to someone who had tested positive for the coronavirus will also have the opportunity to learn remotely, school officials said recently.

Superintendent Rachel Kinder said last week that administrators are nearing a final decision on what the mask requirement will be for students and staff. The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention announced this week that it is recommending that even fully vaccinated people should wear masks indoors in areas where positive cases are spiking due to the delta variant.

The policy, which Kinder said could either be a mask requirement or a strong recommendation for masking but that such a policy could be up for change depending on how the COVID-19 positivity rate changes over the course of the year.
