Business Spotlight: Jammin' J.W.A Productions

This week, we caught up with Jeff Andrews, the man behind the music at in Romeoville, to learn more about the services he offers clients and how he discovered his passion to become a professional DJ.

Romeoville Patch: How and when did you get your start in the DJ business?

Jeff Andrews: Over the years I have enjoyed all aspects of the music industry as a musician playing in bands, to hosting karaoke in bars and clubs. As a professional DJ, I realize the experience I provide for clients, family and friends is priceless.

In 1999, I attended the Florida Academy of Mobile Entertainment, learning wedding protocol, emcee skills, music knowledge, equipment, lighting and more. Throughout the years, I have performed at hundreds of weddings, parties and other fine events and have attended many seminars and workshops through conferences hosted by local and national mobile entertainer and DJ associations.

In August of 2005, I registered and insured Jammin' J.W.A. Productions. It has operated as a full-service mobile DJ entertainment company ever since.

Patch: What types of events do you DJ?

Andrews: I DJ all types of celebrations — weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, school dances, themed events and more. Weddings are the biggest market.

Patch: How is your business different from other music rental businesses in the area?

Andrews: We are not primarily a music rental service; however, we do have rental options like sound systems for a ceremony, wedding uplighting, karaoke machines, ect.

Jammin' J.W.A. Productions is a mobile entertainment company with seasoned professional DJs, entertaining emcees, and event planning and coordination services. I provide expertly mixed, blended and perfectly programmed continuous music and interactive entertainment that gets everyone up, involved and enjoying the fun.

I take great pride in what I do, and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to make a living doing what I love. I'm committed to making every event a complete success.

Patch: Aside from music, do you offer other services (lights, costumes, etc.)?

Andrews: We utilize the latest in DJ lighting equipment to set the mood and create excitement for specific dances throughout the evening, which include sound activated lighting and intelligent lighting devices that are controlled by DMX. Other services include video production, big-screen video presentation, ceremony music and coordination, wedding uplighting, monogram lighting and karaoke.

Patch: What changes have you seen or made over the past 10 years to stay “in tune” with the business?

Andrews: As a mobile entertainer, I’m constantly creating and improving my performance through continuing education by attending workshops and conferences.
