Census: Romeoville Population Nearly Doubled Since 2000
Even as the state's population dropped, the Village of Romeoville has continued to grow.

Romeoville’s population has nearly doubled over the last decade, according to 2010 U.S. Census results released Tuesday. Since 2000, the village’s population has climbed from 21,153 to 39,680.
Several nearby communities also grew, including Joliet (38.8 percent population growth), Naperville (10.5 percent growth) and Aurora (38.4 percent increase). Throughout Will County, the population has increased 34.9 percent to 677,560 residents.
Romeoville isn’t just larger than it was in 2000; it’s also more diverse. Ten years ago, 84.5 of Romeoville residents were white. The 2010 results show that 26,178 residents, or 66 percent, identified themselves as Caucasian on census forms.
