Chicago Grocer To Open 1st Suburban Location In Romeoville

Developers will break ground on the new grocery store in the spring.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Plans for La Hacienda, a specialty grocery store, have moved forward in Romeoville, after the Romeoville Village Board approved a special use permit for a final development plan at its Oct. 7 meeting.

La Hacienda will be located at the southwest corner of Creekside Drive and Weber Road.

Community Development Director Josh Potter said the plans for the development call for a grocery store, restaurant and retail development.

The property is 1.8 acres and is zoned B-3 commercial.

"La Hacienda is a family-owned grocer and distributor that operates several neighborhood groceries in Chicago," Potter said. "This would be their first suburban location."

The building would include the full-service grocery store, a restaurant and two retail tenant spaces. The restaurant will have a speak-easy concept, the Village shared.

According to the Village, the grocery store will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and will also have an in-house, cut-to-order butcher program.

Potter said the business is moving toward a spring 2027 construction start.

"This is going to be a very nice project," Mayor John Noak said.
