Citizens Police Academy Beginning In Romeoville
The first class of the program will be 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, but applications are due by Sept. 7.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Police Department will hold a session of its Citizens Police Academy program starting Sept. 14. The free 12-week program lets participants get to know members of the police department and better understand why officers make the decisions they do, according to the Village website.
The first class of the program will be 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, but applications are due by Sept. 7. Masks are required for the classes and class size is limited to 10 participants, according to the village.
Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the Romeoville Police Department, 1050 W. Romeo Road, or printed out online.

According to the village, topics for the program include gangs, criminal/traffic law, traffic stops, firearm safety, K-9 unit and more. Students must be at least 18 years old, and priority will be given to Romeoville residents.
