Comicopolis at the White Oak Library District - Lockport Branch

The White Oak Library District is pleased to host its 5th annual Comic and Fandom Con – Comicopolis – in partnership with Amazing Fantasy Books and Comics, the City of Lockport’s Summer Art Series, and Zombie Army Productions. The all-ages event, which attracts over 1,000 attendees, will be held both inside and outside of the Library building at 121 E. 8th Street in downtown Lockport on Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is FREE.
This year, the special guest line-up is super exciting. …..Five-time Eisner nominee and Inkpot winner Dan Brereton will be here from the west coast. Also here from California is New York Times Best Selling, Eisner Award-winning DC comic writer Marc Andreyko who has written stories for Manhunter, Batwoman, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl. You can visit both Dan and Marc in Artist Alley, or attend an Artist Panel, during which they will be featured. Local artist Gene Ha, known for his graphic novel Mae will just be getting back from the San Diego Comic Con, but he’s making time for Comicopolis where he will exhibit and present a class on “How to Draw Anything”. Also here will be Lockport resident/stunt man/actor Jordan Vintryst with credits including Divergent, Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Café Kremlin. And, Lorrisa Julianus with 11 years of experience portraying various video game characters, will talk about what it’s like to be a motion capture actor.

3:30 pm – Cosplay Costume Contest, Outside
Over 50 local artists, illustrators, writers, presenters, and vendors will be here all day with unique art, comics, graphic novels, and fandom items offered at reasonable prices.
Be sure to arrive early, as there are swag bags for the first 500 attendees!
In addition, there are door prizes for scores of lucky attendees (just for showing up), drawings for some very cool gift baskets, a scavenger hunt, food trucks, and a green screen photo booth.
