Construction Continues For I-55, Weber Road Project

The Village of Romeoville recently shared a 2-week outlook on the ongoing project.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Construction continues at the Interstate 55 and Weber Road interchange, and the Village of Romeoville recently shared a 2-week outlook on the ongoing project.

The project involves adding a third lane to each direction of Weber Road between 135th Street and 119th Street, according to the village. Drivers should pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limit and be on alert for workers and equipment.

According to the village website, over the next two weeks, construction for the Weber Road north contract will include: asphalt paving on Normantown Road, pouring of concrete pavement at intersections, asphalt paving at ramps, grading, gutter and stone shoulder placement along I-55, forming of bridge deck over I-55, installation of traffic signal foundations, and fill-in areas and installation of curb, street lighting foundations, conduit, topsoil, seed, and erosion control blanket.

The Weber Road south contract work will include the installation of traffic signal hand holes, foundations and conduits; excavation, aggregate base placement and paving at 135th Street and Grand Boulevard; construction of sidewalk, excavation at sound wall and ponds, and embankment placement behind mainline curb.

The original complete date for the project was Aug. 6, but is now Jan. 10, 2022, according to the village.
