Cop Saves 2 People from Burning Home

The Romeoville police officer entered the home after no one answered the front door.

An officer with the Romeoville Police Department helped save two people after he noticed smoke coming from a home outside the department’s jurisdiction, according to a press release from the department.

Officer Jeff Gifford saw smoke at around 10:19 a.m. Sunday, April 17 in the 21000 block of West Covington. After unsuccessfully trying to make contact at the front door, he found an unlocked door and entered the residence.

Gifford found two people who had been sleeping inside the home. He was able to get them out of the house and the fire was extinguished by the Lockport Township Fire Department.
