Crest Hill Man Charged With Assaulting Romeoville Police Officer
Robert Lozano Sr., 41, was charged after police said he was acting erratically and blocking traffic near an I-55 exit ramp last weekend.

ROMEOVILLE, IL – A 41-year-old Crest Hill man has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes after authorities say he assaulted a Romeoville police officer during a traffic incident over the weekend.
Robert A. Lozano, Sr., threatened physical violence to officers after they were sent to the area of Weber Road and Interstate 55 on Sunday after receiving reports of an intoxicated person who was keeping vehicles to enter the exit ramp, police said Thursday.
Police said that Lozano’s vehicle was blocking the left turn lane on the I-55 southbound exit ramp and was acting erratic and walking into traffic. When police arrive, Lozano was making aggressive movements and said that he wanted to assault the officers, Romeoville police said in a news release.

Police said that Lozano then grabbed one of the officers by the arms and grabbed the officer’s duty belt. Lozano was taken into custody after a physical altercation and was charged with obstructing and resisting a police officer, aggravated assault to a police officer and aggravated battery to a police officer.
The Joliet Herald-News reported that a judge set Lozano’s bond at $10,000 and ordered him not to consume alcohol or illicit drugs, including marijuana. He was also ordered not to possess firearms, ammunition or other dangerous weapons as a condition of his bond.

Lozano was also required to surrender any firearms or dangerous weapons in his possession to the nearest law enforcement agency within 24 hours of his release from jail. Lozano was released from jail after posting bond.
