Crest Hill Woman Sues Great Clips For $50K-Plus
The lawsuit states that plaintiff Karen Godfrey used a cane to walk due to physical disabilities.

JOLIET, IL - A Crest Hill woman who was a customer at one of the Great Clips stores in Romeoville is suing the business for more than $50,000 in damages as well as her lawyer's fees. Karen Godfrey filed the lawsuit last week at the Will County Courthouse in downtown Joliet against Marbl Salons LCC, otherwise known as Great Clips. Godfrey had gone to the Great Clips salon in the 300 block of South Weber Road back on October 5, 2015 when she allegedly experienced a mishap.
According to Godfrey's civil lawsuit, the Great Clips stylist called the Crest Hill woman into one of the hair-cutting cubicles and positioned the chair for Godfrey to sit down. At that point, a series of horrific events played out inside Great Clips, Godfrey's lawsuit contends.
"The positioning of the chair by the stylist created a difficult angle for Plaintiff to access the chair and to negotiate the footrest," her lawsuit reads. "Plaintiff attempted to negotiate the narrow space but tripped and fell over the footrest as she was attempting to sit down."

The Aurora law firm suing Great Clips contends that as a result of the defendant's negligence, Godfrey "sustained severe, disabling injuries to her muscles, bones and nervous system. She experienced pain and will in the future experience further pain and suffering from the injuries," stated attorney Patrick Flaherty. "Because of the injuries, she has been prevented from participating in the enjoyments of living common to all people."
