Crock Pot Meth Lab Remnants Found at Plainfield Forest Preserve

A man discovered it when he thought it was trash.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The remnants of a meth lab were found early Thursday morning in a Plainfield forest preserve.

Police say a man was walking in Mather Woods Forest Preserve at around 7 a.m. when he went off the trail to pick up a wooden box he thought was trash.

Inside the box, the man found a crock pot, coffee filters and other small cooking items.

Police say it appears the crock pot had remnants of methamphetamine inside. The Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team was called to the scene and took custody of the items.
