Plainfield Driver Dies After Crashing into Parked Car

Police do not yet know if any drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man was killed after his vehicle crashed into a parked car early Monday morning.

Harold Fite, 45, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala east on Route 126 when his vehicle left the south side of the road and struck a 1999 Ford F150 parked in the driveway of a residence in the 26000 block of West Route 126 in Plainfield, according to The Herald-News.

Fite was the only passenger in the vehicle and no one was in the car parked in the driveway. Fite was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

ISP Trooper Shelley Cox told Patch Monday morning the crash had occurred at 4:41 a.m. A phone call later in the afternoon seeking confirmation of the man’s death was unsuccessful.

Police do not yet know if any drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, according to Cox.

The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
