Driver in Romeoville Crash Died of Heart Attack: Coroner
The 77-year-old Plainfield man was involved in a single-vehicle crash March 1.

A 77-year-old Plainfield man who was involved in single-vehicle crash March 1 died of an apparent heart attack.
Stephen Platko was found in his car with no trauma or injuries after his 2008 Toyota went off the road and struck a chain-link fence near the Lewis University Airport on Renwick Road in Romeoville, Will County Coroner Patrick K. O’Neil said.
According to O’Neil, Platko was wearing a cardiac monitoring device at the time of the crash.

“The events from the monitor were taken to his physician’s office and the events clearly showed that Mr. Platko sustained a heart attack,” O’Neil said.
A funeral service for Platko was held at 10 a.m. March 7 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
