DUI, Tires Slashed, Weapon Possession: Romeoville Blotter

Incidents occurred between July 26 and Aug. 10.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

July 26

Dorothy Capellani, 55, of the 200 block of Beaver Creek in Bolingbrook, was charged with driving under the influence, no insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and unlawful possession of a weapon. The incident occurred in the area of Weber and Windham Pkwy.

Aug. 1

A burglary to motor vehicle was reported in the 300 block of North Independence. Someone took a cell phone valued at $150 from an unlocked vehicle.

Aug. 3

A criminal damage to property was reported in the 300 block of McKool. Someone slashed two tires on a vehicle that was parked in the street. Estimated cost to replace the tires is $200.

A theft under $500 was reported in the 400 block of South Weber. Someone took an unsecured bicycle that belonged to a customer from the side of the building. The bicycle is valued at $280.

A criminal damage to property was reported in the 800 block of Murphy. Someone damaged a mailbox post. Estimated cost to repair the damage is $100.

Aug. 4

A theft under $500 was reported in the 300 block of North Independence. Someone took an unsecured bicycle that belonged to a customer. The bicycle is valued at $200.

Aug. 5

A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested for no valid driver’s license, no insurance, too many passengers and expired registration. The arrest occurred in the area of Jonquil and Honeysuckle.

A motor vehicle theft was reported in the 1800 block of Grassy Knoll Dr. Someone took a vehicle valued at $20,000 from the garage of the residence.

A motor vehicle theft was reported in the 100 block of Whitehill Dr. Someone took a vehicle valued at $7,000 that was parked in the street.

A burglary from motor vehicle was reported in the 600 block of Poplar. Someone entered a parked, unlocked vehicle and took identification cards and credit cards from the auto. The credit cards were later used to make purchases.

Aug. 7

A burglary from motor vehicle was reported in the 700 block of Rogers Road. Someone rummaged through three cars parked at the residence. Vehicle keys to one of autos were taken.

A retail theft was reported in the 300 block of North Independence. Someone took several packages of probiotics valued at $207.94 from the business.

Aug. 8

Asillo Ziadat, 19, of the 14100 block of Mount Pleasant Court in Plainfield, was charged with numerous burglaries to motor vehicles. The arrest occurred in the area of Westlake Parkway and Kentland.

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested in the area of Taylor and Belmont for no valid driver’s license and illegal use of cell phone.

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested in the 300 block of Homer for theft under $500.

A motor vehicle theft was reported in the 200 block of Lilac Dr. Someone took a pickup truck valued at $50,000 that was parked in the driveway of the residence.

Aug. 10

A burglary from motor vehicle and a residential burglary were reported in the 1900 block of Ashbrooke. Someone entered the garage and took stereo equipment. Parked vehicles were also entered and a circular saw was taken. Total estimated value of the items taken is $1,605.
