Edward Physical Therapy now in Romeoville

Clinic located in Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center, Route 53 and Normantown Rd.

Edward Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services department has opened a clinic in Romeoville at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center, 55 Phelps Ave. (near the intersection of Route 53 and Normantown Rd.).

The clinic is staffed by physical therapist Sarah Greenwell, DPT, a graduate of Midwestern University. She treats patients of all diagnoses and has a special interest in athletic, neurological, post-operative and geriatric patients. Greenwell is certified in LSVT BIG to help Parkinson’s patients improve and maintain mobility, and is working toward certification in spinal manual therapy. She also works with patients at Edward Hospital who’ve undergone hip, knee and spine surgeries.

Edward Rehab’s physical and occupational therapy programs focus on orthopedic problems, neurological conditions and many other physical challenges. Speech therapy treats speech and voice disorders as well as swallowing and neurological conditions. And, specialty programs are offered for incontinence, pelvic pain, lymphedema, pediatric physical and speech therapy, sports medicine and feeding issues in newborns.

Edward physical therapists bring extensive training for the thousands of outpatients seen annually and to the bedside for inpatients at Edward Hospital. Most of the therapists have Master’s degrees or doctorates, all have bachelor’s degrees.

The expertise is reflected in clinical outcomes for Edward in the top 15 percent of 4,500 similar U.S. facilities, according to FOTO (Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes), the largest national therapy database. For lower back pain, the second most common reason for doctor’s visits, Edward’s physical therapy rating is in the top 11 percent.

The therapists’ goal is to help patients resume normal activities, reduce the need for pain medication and, in some cases, provide an alternative to surgery.
