"Wizard of Oz" Opens Friday at RHS

Romeoville High School’s production of "The Wizard of Oz" opens this weekend with 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday performances and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. It will continue March 18 and 19.

Jessica Kidd and Elise Marie Kuchenbecker share the lead role of Dorothy Gale on alternating nights. Melanie Washington plays both Aunt Em and Glinda, Cayle Higgins in Uncle Henry and the Emerald City Guard, Joshua Damore is Zeke and the Cowardly Lion, Demond Green is Hickory and the Tin Woodsman and Joseph Sammons Jr. is Hunk and Scarecrow.

Marlena Pierzchala plays Miss Gultch and the Wicked Witch; Damitri Taylor is Professor Marvel and the Wizard of Oz; Courtney Hurdle, Katelin N. Love and Rosa M. Terracciano are crows; Sarah E. Ford, Gabrielle Habeeb and Samantha McDonald are the Apple Tree Trio; and Joey Schultz is Nikko, the flying monkey commander.

"The Wizard of Oz" is produced by the Romeoville High School music department and is directed by David Saunders. The creative team includes  Kimberly Nachowicz, choreographer; Joe Amato, assistant director; Corey Anderson, assistant director; Sarah West, assistant director; Clark Anderson, conductor; Chuck Niebling, set design/crew sponsor; and Yeat Nachowicz, costume design.

Tickets may be purchased by contacting Saunders at 815-407-5128 or or saundersdl@vvsd.org, or at the door for the regular adult admission price of $10 and student/senior admission price of $7.  Tickets purchased in advance are discounted by $1. Call for reserved seating options.

The show will be performed in the David F. Carlson Auditorium of Romeoville High School, located at 100 N. Independence Blvd. in Romeoville.
