Fistfight Leads To Gunfire After Basketball Game: Cops

Three Romeoville teens were arrested after a report of shots fired.

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, IL -- Three Romeoville teenagers were arrested late Thursday after a fight that started in the parking lot of Plainfield East High School led to a report of shots fired in Plainfield Township.

The dustup began as an argument between a 16- and 17-year-old in the Plainfield East parking lot, 12001Naperville Road, during a basketball game, Will County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said. The fight between the teens was broken up and police were not called, but it later resumed behind the Jewel-Osco at Weber and Taylor roads in Romeoville, cops said.

After the fistfight, the teens all went home. Later, the 16-year-old said he and his brother heard a vehicle pull up outside their home in the 13000 block of Kittyhawk Lane in Plainfield Township. The teens saw three males get out of the car, and recognized one as the 17-year-old involved in the fistfight, Hoffmeyer said.
