Girl Rescued After Falling Through Ice in Lockport

The 10-year-old was reportedly sledding when she slid out onto a retention pond.

A 10-year-old girl is in good condition after falling through the ice on a retention pond in Lockport Monday morning.

Lockport Township firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Key West Drive at around 11:40 a.m. after the girl slid out onto the ice while sledding down an embankment, the Herald-News reported.

The girl fell through the ice up to her waist, officials said, but bystanders reacted quickly and got her out of the water before taking her to a nearby home to warm up.

The girl was taken to an area hospital and listed in good condition, the Herald-News reported.
