How Much Do Valley View Administrators Make?
State law requires school districts to publish salaries online.

With the click of a mouse, taxpayers can easily access salary and benefit information for administrators in their school district.
Illinois Public Act 096-0434 requires school districts to post administrators’ salaries, bonuses, pension contributions, health insurance and more on their websites in October of each year. The act also requires districts to present the report annually at a meeting of the board of education.
According to the administrator salary compensation report presented as part of the consent agenda at the Valley View Board of Education meeting Tuesday, Superintendent James Mitchem pulls in a base salary of $199,000. The school chief’s pension contribution is $20,646; cost of health/dental insurance, $17,832; life insurance, $262.68; and disability insurance, $6,399.84.

Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Service Gary Grizaffi is paid a base salary of $177,840, with a pension contribution of $18,451; cost of dental/health insurance, $17,832; life insurance, $234.75; and disability insurance, $5,719.33. Two assistant superintendents for curriculum, Venus Smith and Rachel Kinder, are both compensated $135,900 in base salaries.
