Lewis' Exercise Science Program Receives National Accreditation

Lewis University is only the second Exercise Science program to be accredited in Illinois, the university said.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Lewis University Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science program is now accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences, according to a release from the university.

Lewis University is only the second Exercise Science program to be accredited in Illinois, the university said. The 5-year accreditation recognizes the program's compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards. The program was awarded accreditation following review by site visitors from CoAES which establishes and implements this process of self-study, review, and recommendation for any programs seeking CAAHEP accreditation.

“The Exercise Science faculty successfully completed the process of preparing a self-study and undergoing programmatic accreditation through CAAHEP, which is specifically intended for those offering professional preparation designed for students seeking employment opportunities in the health, fitness, and exercise industry,” Dr. Susan Muller, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences said in a release.
