Lewis Men's Basketball Cracks Inaugural NCAA Regional Rankings

The Flyers ranked No. 8 in the Midwest.

The National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) released its inaugural Division II Men's Basketball regional rankings on Wednesday (Feb. 15) night, and the Lewis University Flyers find themselves ranked eighth overall in the Midwest region.

The top eight teams in each region advance to the NCAA Tournament. Pairings will be announced March 4 and the regional tournament will be held March 10, 11 and 13 at campus sites.

The Flyers (14-9, 6-9 GLVC), who play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division, own a regional record of 10-9. Seven of those defeats are at the hands of their GLVC East counterparts, all of whom are ranked nationally and ahead of Lewis in the regional rankings.

"It's nice to be ranked, but it will matter most at the end of the season," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "There's a lot of basketball to be played and we need to finish strong."
