Lewis University Demolishes Fitzpatrick Hall
Fitzpatrick has been a residence hall and has housed thousands of students, but it has reached the end of its useful structural life.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville's Lewis University is undergoing a revitalization of the core of its campus with the demolition of Fitzpatrick Hall starting this week, according to a release from the university.
Fitzpatrick has been a residence hall and has housed thousands of students over the years, but it has reached the end of its useful structural life, the university said.
The area created by the removal of Fitzpatrick will provide for a greatly expanded outdoor space to enhance the core of the campus as envisioned in the campus master plan, according to the university.

A committee of students, faculty and staff will work together to reimagine this newly opened space into an area that everyone can enjoy all year long. This could include everything from enhanced campus recreation, unique gathering spaces, special site amenities and focused campus destinations, the university said.
The new design process will be done in collaboration with the SmithGroup, who also assisted in the development of the most recent campus master plan, according to the university.
