Lewis University Not Requiring COVID-19 Vaccination
The university is strongly recommending that its students and personnel be up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccination.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — Lewis University is strongly recommending, but no longer requiring, that all members of its community be up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccination, after Gov. J.B. Pritzker rescinded an executive order which mandated that higher education students enrolled in on-campus classes receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
"As we continue to move toward living with this virus, my administration will relax some requirements while continuing to protect the most vulnerable and ensuring we can get every federal dollar our residents are eligible to receive," Gov. JB Pritzker said in a news release Wednesday.
The university said that its resident students will be required to submit their COVID-19 vaccination status to the school.

The university is no longer requiring unvaccinated students or university personnel to submit weekly test results, but still recommends weekly testing for unvaccinated individuals. PCR COVID-19 tests are available from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in Memorial Hall at the Romeoville campus.
The university said it is a mask-friendly campus, but is mask-optional in all spaces unless posted signage indicates face coverings are required, like in the health center and testing area.
