Lewis University presents "The Triumph of Love"

First presented in 1732 by the Comediens Italians in France, this tireless comedy, newly translated, clearly demonstrates the ageless affinity of love and laughter. The peaceful lives of philosopher Hermocrate (Jonathan Boehle of Cornell), his sister Leontine (Briana Reidy of Darien), and pupil Agis (Michael Frale of Elk Grove) are thrown into turmoil when Princess Leonide (Kayla Carson of Burbank) and her servant Corine (Christy Carlson of Lockport) arrive in search of true love. An ideal solution to achieving their goals is continuing the time-honored tradition of gender-swapping spanning from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night to the films Some Like It Hot and She’s the Man. Throw in a high-spirited Harlequin (Jordin Richards of Tinley Park) and a greedy gardener (Tyler Senjanin of Evergreen Park), what could possibly go wrong?

Theatre professor Kevin Trudeau of Chicago is directing the production.
