Lewis University In Romeoville Explores E-Learning For Teachers

The University has partnered with Illinois Virtual School to help teachers learn the best practices in teaching online.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — As the Illinois State Board of Education issued preventative measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, many field experience, aspiring teachers were unable to complete field observation hours in local private and public schools as part of the program.

Lewis University’s middle and secondary education faculty began to explore other options and reached out to Illinois Virtual School.

IVS is an approved supplemental online learning provider of the Illinois State Board of Education and administered through the Peoria Regional Office of Education #48.

In a newly established agreement, IVS Illinois licensed instructors are working alongside Lewis University teacher candidates to help them learn best practices in teaching online.

With the support of IVS, Lewis University teacher candidates are gaining valuable experience and will be in a position to join schools in applying best practices for e-learning and utilizing digital tools in traditional learning environments.
