Madrigal Dinner Melds Elegance, Fine Dining and Holiday Cheer
RHS choral students entertain during sold-out performance at Carillon's Lakeview Pavilion.
Guests feasted on chicken Marsala with all the trimmings topped off by traditional wassail and bread pudding, while being regaled by trumpeters and jesters, a king and queen and members of the royal court during ’s annual Madrigal Dinner Saturday night.
This year, Madrigals director Allison Thune changed the venue for the event from Cog Hill golf course in Lemont to the Lakeview Pavilion at Carillon on Weber Road.
“I wanted to bring it closer to home this year,” Thune said. “I think this works well,” she added, giving a nod to the softly lit pavilion, elegantly draped in white fabric.

A trumpet fanfare announced the grand entrance of the king and queen and royal court, dressed in the most exquisite finery made of velvet and satin accented by touches of gold, feathers and other embellishments.
As the evening continued, the royal troupe entertained with “Here We Come A Caroling,” “We’ll Dress the House,” “Deck the Halls” and other traditional carols designed to evoke the holiday spirit in those gathered.
