Metal Monkey Named Romeoville 'Business of the Year'

The Romeoville brewery recently celebrated its one-year anniversary.

Just weeks after celebrating its first anniversary, Romeoville's Metal Monkey Brewing marked another milestone. Last week, owner Dan Camp accepted the award for 2016 "Business of the Year" during Mayor John Noak's State of the Village address.

"Within their first year in business, they debuted their first two bottled beers," the village said in a news release. "Although running a business for the first year is time consuming, that did not stop the ownership from finding time to raise funds to aid local residents in need."

In October, the business stepped up to help residents affected by an explosion that leveled two townhome units and injured to Nicor workers.

"We can't say enough about how much we love this town and how much we're looking forward to what the next year brings us," Metal Monkey staff said on Facebook.

According to Noak, 2016 brought more than $200 million in new developments to Romeoville -- plus 2,300 new jobs. More new businesses are on the horizon for 2017, and construction of a Romeoville Metra station is slated to begin in April at New Avenue and 135th Street.
