Mistwood Reclaims Hot Dog World Record: Drone Footage

The golf course had nearly 2,500 hot dogs in a continuous line on par 5 on 4th of July.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Mistwood Golf Club attempted to set a Guinness World Record on July 4 by laying 2,496 hot dogs in a continuous line measuring 1,163 feet, stretching from the tee to nearly the green on one of its par 5 holes — reclaiming the record from Japan. The previous record was 1157 feet held by Nakakyushu Kubota of Japan. Mistwood captured drone footage of the feat (above).

In a news release, Mistwood said it will now submit video and photographic evidence of the Guinness Record attempt for official verification. Approximately 200 people showed up at the public golf club to help set the world record by lining up and then eating the hot dogs.

“When we learned that there was an official world record for lining up hot dogs, our first thought was, wow, that’s awesome, of course there should be a record for that human achievement,” said Jimmy Koklas, Food & Beverage Director at Mistwood Golf Club. “There are few things more American than the hot dog, and we decided it is time to bring this record home. As a nation founded on ingenuity and industriousness, we’re also very good at lining things up. On behalf of all Americans we are reclaiming this title and ‘making America great again.'"
