Mongo McMichael's Closes In Romeoville

The owners of the bar and restaurant, at 1101 N. Independence Boulevard, are retiring after 42 years.​

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Mongo McMichael's in Romeoville has closed its door as of Tuesday, the restaurant shared on its Facebook.

The owners of the bar and restaurant, at 1101 N. Independence Boulevard, are retiring after 42 years.

"Our appreciation and gratitude to each of you for your endless support of our business cannot be expressed enough. Throughout the years, we have been fortunate to have formed countless friendships, many of which we now consider part of our family," the restaurant owners, the Stavros Spandonidis family, wrote on Facebook.

A new restaurant, Pop's Pizza, will open at the location.

"Lastly, thank you to everyone in the current administration for the assistance in the transition from Mongo McMichael’s to Pop’s and the new owners. We wish them much success and a warm welcome to Romeoville," the restaurant said.
