More Park Improvements Coming To Romeoville

The Plainfield Park District will share the cost of equipment for Budler Park.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Weeks after the completion of a new concessions stand and restrooms at Deer Crossing Park, several additional park improvements were approved by the Romeoville village board this week:

  • ACT Services will review parks to ensure they meet Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines. They will identify any barriers that limit accessibility and provide guidance on how to correct these issues.
  • The Plainfield Park District has agreed to share the cost of new equipment installation at Budler Park, 1912 Trafalger Drive. The agreement will allow residents living in the district to use Budler Park and allow the district to use the park for local programing. As part of an intergovernmental agreement, the park district will provide a one-time payment of $100,000 for redevelopment of the park. The total project cost is $275,000, according to village documents. The park district payment will be made within 30 days under the agreement approved Wednesday.
  • A vendor has been selected to do the resurfacing of the Volunteer Park parking lot at 1100 Murphy Drive.
  • Various park sites have been approved for fencing repair, including ball fields at Village Park, 900 W. Romeo Road; Volunteer Park, and Boucher Prairie Park, 1649 Richfield Trail, as well as the Boucher Prairie Hockey Rink.

“Parks can be the lifeblood of a community, especially in the summer time,” offered Mayor John Noak. “We want to continue the upkeep on these facilities so they can be enjoyed to their fullest.”For a full list of park sites in Romeoville, visit the Parks and Recreation page at romeoville.org.
