Community Corner

More Park Space and Recreation Coming to Romeoville

The Village will develop approximately 14 acres of land, adding recreational opportunities and a commercial out lot.

Work is moving full speed ahead on the Monarch Grove Senior Living and Apartments complex at the southeast corner of Weber Road and 135th Street. As we welcome new residents to Romeoville, the Village has plans to expand recreation and community to this area as well.

Next to Monarch Grove, the Village will develop approximately 14 acres of land, adding recreational opportunities and a commercial out lot. The plan includes two park sites and one parcel for retail, all of which will bring more community enrichment and opportunity to the area.

The first park site will be 3.96-acres including a pavilion for gatherings, community garden, walking path and bike trail connections, bike repair station, native landscaping and parking. This park will not only provide a beautiful green space, but also preserve local history. Materials from the barn that once stood on the site will be used for the raised garden beds within the community garden.

The second park site (5 acres) will include pickleball courts, three half-court basketball courts, a restroom building, two additional shelters, a playground with a zip line, an interpretive signage path, extensive native plantings, and a connection to Volunteer Park. These improvements are also made possible by a $478,600 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant awarded in September 2025.

To support these new features, a new interior road will connect Weber Road and 135th Street, with the Weber entrance featuring a signalized intersection that will also serve South Carillon Drive. This stoplight will make travel safer and prepare for Weber’s expansion to three lanes in each direction (construction expected in 2027).

“This project expands recreational opportunities and adds even more to our community’s open space,” said Mayor Noak.

With these improvements—alongside the new Vasa Fitness Center and upgrades to Romeo Towne Center—this intersection is becoming a dynamic destination for Romeoville residents. Additional announcements are expected at this intersection and throughout the community over the coming months.
