Obituary: Anita C. Bottomley

Anita retired from Bell Realty and Coldwell Banker-Honig Bell after 32 years as a real estate broker

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory​.

Anita Bottomley passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on January 28, 1939 in Spring Valley, IL, the daughter of the late Ralph M. and Dorothy H. (nee Halbmaier) Bulfer. She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy Class of 1957, Joliet Junior College and the College of St. Francis.

Anita retired from Bell Realty and Coldwell Banker-Honig Bell after 32 years as a real estate broker. She also worked on the Grievance Committee and the Ways and Means Committee for the Will County Board of Realtors. She was the Will County Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year in 1980. Former member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where she was a member of the choir, as well as the Diocesan choir, St. Raymond School Board and the CCW of St. Raymond. She was a past teaching volunteer at the Cathedral of St. Raymond and Holy Family Schools. Anita was an Alumni Board Member of St. Francis Academy, and a volunteer at Joliet Area Community Hospice.

Survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Kenneth L. Bottomley; son, Brian (Amy Marker) Bottomley of Joliet; granddaughter, Elaine (Alex Erchinger) Bottomley of Joliet; former daughter-in-law, Rita Bottomley; one brother, August"William" (Carol) Bulfer of Naperville; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son William "Bill" Bottomley; and her sister-in-law, Norma (Robert) Arnsdorff.

The family will like to extend a heartfelt thank you and appreciation to Anita’s caregivers, Jennifer Craig, LaKisha, and Jen Schuh who took such loving care of her.

Visitation for Anita C. Bottomley will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of prayers at 10:00 a.m. Procession will follow to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, IL where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care or to a charity of your choice.
