Keith Smith

Keith Smith, of Galatia, IL, formerly of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54, on Friday, June 2, 2023. Keith was born in Harvey, IL, on August 30, 1968, the son of Glendell E. and Laverne (nee Hancock) Smith. A longtime resident of Joliet, he was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. Keith was a long time employee a Vulcan Materials Company in Romeoville where he was a diesel mechanic and was recently volunteering at Ferrell Hospital.

In his free time Keith enjoyed playing golf, baseball, softball, and having a few beers socializing with his friends. He had a passion of refurbishing cars that he shared with his son, Chad. And he always had a smile on his face when he was spending time with his grandkids.

Keith is survived by his son, Chad (Erika) Smith; daughter, Skyla (Robert) Fellner; his special daughters, Tabitha Jewel and Miranda Miller; mother, Lavern Smith; grandchildren, Nehemiah and Harrison Fellner, Zander, Maximus, Bentley, and Sienna Smith; Marilyn Kay Jewel; and Tyler, Briar, and Aubri Miller; and his siblings, Rick (George Gaspar) Smith and Rhonda (Randy) Baker. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his son, Tyler Smith; daughter, Amanda Smith; his father, Glendell E. Smith; and one brother Kevin Smith.

Visitation for Keith Smith will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
