Obituary: W. Sue Rose

ROMEOVILLE, IL — W. Sue Rose, 83, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, died on Sept. 9, 2026, at her home, according to her obituary shared by Dunlap Memorial Home.

She was born on March 8, 1943, in Camden, Tennessee, daughter of the late Clarence and Allie Mae (Johnson) Watson.
Sue was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 in Illinois and was a member of the Romeoville SAC, or Social Athletic Club, Auxiliary out of Lost Acres in Romeoville. These memberships reflected the importance she placed on belonging, camaraderie, and staying active in the lives of those around her.

She retired to Dyersburg, Tennessee, and then relocated to Fort Atkinson in 2018 to be closer to her family.

Sue enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought joy and excitement to her days. She liked bingo, fishing, and pull tabs, and she had a special love for gardening. She was known as a gambling enthusiast, and she appreciated the fun and anticipation that came with it. She had a deep love of animals, especially her dog Pixie who recently passed.

Those who knew Sue will remember her as a very caring and loving person who would do anything for anyone. She had a giving nature and a willingness to help that made her a trusted friend and a comforting presence. At the same time, she was stubborn and quick witted, qualities that added to her charm and made her all the more memorable.

Sue was a true social butterfly. She had a natural ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met.

Sue is survived by her daughters, Michelle Baumgardner and Molly Squires (Rose), grandchildren, Allison Prisk and Alex Squires, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Rose, brothers, Adrian, Willie and Jerry and her first husband Cecil Baumgardner.

Following her wishes, no service will be held.
